Alpha Omega Integration is seeking a highly motivated, well rounded Mid to Senior level to join our team. The selected candidate will support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Web Operation Center (WOC) and various other open source applications. Hosting locations are geographic located across 9 NOAA Campuses throughout the United States, but the job site for this position is located on Silver Spring, MD.  Work site is adjacent to the Silver Spring (metro transportation center).
Required support includes but is not limited to:
Continuous integration services / Automation - Provision and administer servers providing services such as Git, Ansible and/or Puppet services. Automate deployment and management using tools such as Ansible and Proxmox
  • Virtualization – use KVM, VMWare and containers to provision and administer visualization applications such as ESRI arcgis and Tableau
  • Application / Configuration Management - Expand CMS solutions to utilize tools such as Git and Jenkins to streamline workflow based on our relationships and experience with the WOC's Drupal and Wordpress customers
  • Security - work closely with the ISSO, to anticipate security needs and respond quickly to address findings and threats. Perform regular patching to provide a sound and secure infrastructure. Migrate from LDAP to ICAM to provide authorization consistent with NOAA standards
  • Monitoring - use tools such as OMD/check_mk/dash, Neustar, and Sensu to
  • Documentation - produce and update clear documentation and continue to foster strong configuration management practices to ensure low cost system maintainability. Migrating from T-wiki with DASH to Jira
  • Tracking – use Ticketing tools such as Kayako and ServiceNow to track service request and incidents (break/fix) issues to closure. Use
  • Storage – build provide fault tolerant storage for the compute platform, expanded with cost effective SAN technology such as Dell Equallogic storage
  • HA/Load Balance - deliver highly available and fault tolerant solutions leveraging existing mechanisms, such as LVS load balancing, DRBD replication and DNS load balancing across WOC datacenters. In near future work with N-WAVE network architects to integrate Citrix Netscaler load balancers with the existing linux based LVS load balancers for web traffic in origin and edge server farms and extend load balancing to applications such as MySQL
  • Backups – maintain existing Dell DL4300 Backup & Recovery Appliance and introduce backup infrastructure to complement the redundancy and data protection built in to the distributed origin design of the WOC
  • DNS - administer zones that are directly under WOC control and coordinate with other groups within NOAA to maintain TSIG signatures and other parameters necessary to ensure that core DNS infrastructure continues to interoperate with their stealth masters
  • DNSSEC - work with to maintain proper DNSSEC trust chains for WOC managed DNS. Upgrade BIND to reduce complexity by eliminating the need for dnssec-tools for DNSSEC key management and are prepared to transition to purpose built DNS appliance such as Infoblox, further simplifying management

Required Qualifications:
  • 4-6 years of experience supporting the above-mentioned Linux based environment (Operation Systems, Software, Databases, tools, devices technologies , and various other open source applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities along with horizontal integration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (i.e., EE, CPE, MIS, IT) or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • US Citizen and must continuously resided in the United States for the last three years (seven years preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience programming in python, perl, php or other structured languages
  • Experience automating system provisioning and handling of operational incidents
  • Experience installing and administering open source applications
